Al-Azhar Grand Mosque to Dish Out 800 Iftar Packs Daily

The Al-Azhar Grand Mosque in South Jakarta is gearing up to provide 800 free takjil (fast-breaking) packs daily throughout the holy month of Ramadan 1447 Hijri.

Hopefully, this Ramadan brings abundant blessings

Al-Azhar Grand Mosque Office Head, Tatang Komara confirmed that the mosque will be handing out these complimentary treats day in and day out for the entire 30 days to accommodate all visiting worshippers.

“For the communal iftar, we are pulling out all the stops to prepare around 800 packs every day for those observing the fast,” Tatang said on Monday (2/23).

The mosque has also lined up an array of Ramadan programs, including free medical checkups and consultations, outreach for orphans, a takjil bazaar, and Islamic lectures on hot-button contemporary issues.

“We hold discussions at every prayer time, covering both thematic and real-world topics to keep the congregation engaged,” he explained.

He hopes these services will allow worshippers to find peace of mind and truly immerse themselves in their devotion throughout the month.

Tatang predicts that attendance will hit a fever pitch during the final ten days of Ramadan, a prime time for Muslims to double down on their spiritual efforts.

"During the last ten days, the main prayer halls are usually bursting at the seams, with the overflow spilling out into the corridors,” he noted.

To brace for the influx of worshippers, the mosque management has arranged for around-the-clock security, joining forces with local authorities and military personnel.

"Hopefully, this Ramadan brings abundant blessings and that all congregants can observe their prayers with peace of mind,"concluded.
